CAS 100Since its introduction a decade ago, TCAS has achieved its goal of enhancing safety by preventing mid-air collisions. Aircrews have come to trust TCAS, enabling an expansion of airborne traffic surveillance and separation capability to provide greater operating efficiencies while further enhancing safety.
After receiving input from customers around the world, Honeywell's engineers have developed a state-of-the-art surveillance system, the CAS-100 family of surveillance products. This customer-driven innovation is required to deal with the ever-increasing airspace congestion.


The first member of the new Honeywell product family is the TPA-100A, which actively tracks aircraft out to 100 nautical miles while also receiving passive ADS-B information from even greater distances. Conventional TCAS systems only provide 40 nautical miles.
The TPA-100A is 32% lighter than conventional TCAS systems and provides additional functionality while occupying less volume, freeing much-needed space in an aircraft's avionics bay.

Innovative functionality includes:

  • Smart Alerting™ - Incorporating terrain data to provide traffic solutions that optimize separation from both terrain and other aircraft
  • Flight Identification - Displaying positive identification of other aircraft, even at long ranges, to the flight crew
  • Hybrid Surveillance - Combining TCAS and ADS-B capabilities into an easy-to-interpret display These capabilities benefit operators with direct efficient routings, while increasing airspace capacity.

Low Life Cycle Cost

TPA100AThe TPA-100A reduces the cost of ownership of traffic surveillance systems. Simplified installation, light-weight components, and simplified upgrades have all been incorporated into this cutting-edge design.
The CAS-100 design will provide a guaranteed mean time between failures to exceed 30,000 hours, reducing repair costs, sparing requirements, and delayed departures.
As many operators seek component commonality between different aircraft types, Honeywell's engineers have focused on providing the best fleet-wide solution: the TPA-100A is capable of accepting either 28VDC or 115VAC power.


Whether it is for long-range flights away from ground-based radar control or in dense traffic of an airport terminal area in bad weather, the TPA-100A will enable your company's aircraft to meet their schedules safely.
The TPA-100A will support Mode-S based ADS-B capability when TSO'd. Additional ADS-B capabilities will be supported as they are defined.

A: Flight ID

Using current TCAS symbology, the CAS-100 system adds Flight Identification to increase the pilot's overall situational awareness

B - Long Range Surveillance

The CAS-100 system extends the range of traffic detection beyond the current industry standards
Active interrogation will reach 100 nm
Passive reception of ADS-B will extend pilot's traffic surveillance to beyond 150 nm

C - Smart Alerting™

Honeywell's sharing of data between TCAS and a terrain database ensures that Resolution Advisories do not command an aircraft to fly towards rising terrain.
